Tyson’s sad but important reminder

We’ve all heard the news over the past couple of days about Mike Tyson’s 4-year-old daughter, who was accidentally strangled by the cord of a treadmill in their home. Our hearts go out to the Tyson family - one can only imagine the kind of grief they will have to endure for the days to come.

This is a somber reminder to all of us to pay closer attention to the surroundings of our children. While it’s next to impossible to remove every obstacle, there are many unintentional injuries you can safeguard your child from just by being alert and aware of your child’s environment. My uncle died of whooping cough

I never knew my uncle Lawrence. He died many years before I was born, even before his brother – my father – was born. He was a young boy with a case of whooping cough. His father – my grandfather – needed to call the doctor. But the family had a party line phone, and the neighbour who was on it wouldn’t get off it so he could make the call. So Lawrence coughed his way to a far-too-young death.

Why you should choose to chew more

Every weekday morning at about 10am, I feel the familiar pangs of hunger. I’m no breakfast skipper - I eat granola, blueberries, and milk daily - but I do get peckish a couple of hours before my lunchtime.

So, every weekday morning at about 10am, I reach for a handful of the same snack. I never get tired of it - so good thing it’s quite nutritious. This snack is yummy and rich in protein, healthy monounsaturated fats, and fibre. It keeps me feeling just full enough until lunch rolls around.
